Frank's Story💙
Frank was born a healthy and bright baby boy in 2016. He had a very chilled yet bubbly personality and always had a smile on his face. In January 2018 when he was only 23 months old, Frank started showing signs that he was unwell and we soon realised he had developed an unexplained swollen eye. Despite his eye getting worse and numerous trips to different doctors and hospitals it took an agonising 4 weeks to get the devastating diagnosis of high risk stage 4 Neuroblastoma.
Frank underwent 15 months of gruelling treatment and thankfully responded well to each treatment method. He was declared cancer free in November 2018 just before he began his final 6 months of immunotherapy. Thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses Frank remained in remission and lived a normal, healthy happy life until December 2020 when it was discovered that the cancer had returned. Despite giving Frank further chemotherapy at this point, the cancer was just too aggressive and he sadly passed away a few weeks later surrounded by his loving family.
When Frank’s first line treatment ended in May 2019 the family had managed to raise a lot of money (with the help of many different friends, colleagues and strangers) to take Frank to New York to receive a vaccine which is designed to help prevent the relapse of Neuroblastoma. Unfortunately the doctors in New York deemed Frank ineligible for the vaccine when they arrived so the vaccine was not given. Frank lived for a further 19 months.
The family chose to donate £30K to Neuroblastoma UK from the money raised for the vaccine to help with much needed research into this awful disease to help other children in memory of Frank. The fundraising pot will be kept open in Franks name so that any future fundraising done can be added and Franks amazing legacy can continue to help others.
We love you and miss you so much Frank x
